Administrative Assistant/Insurance Verification (Part Time)
THIS POSITION WILL NOT START UNTIL SEPTEMBER.
We are seeking a qualified individual to work in our administrative office.
This is a part time position with varying hours Monday – Friday @20-30 hours per week.
This position will require the candidate to be on the phone and computer with patients and
insurance companies to verify accurate insurance coverage and claim disputes.
Duties will also include but are not limited to:
Use billing software, including paper claim processing to review, prepare and transmit claims to
the appropriate party on a daily basis
Research claim denials and modify the claim to ensure it is processed correctly and following up
on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle timeframe.
Answer inquiries made by patients or insurance companies regarding assigned accounts, the
billing process or the appeals process.
Obtaining referrals and pre-authorizations as required for appointments/procedures.
Checking eligibility and benefits verification for treatments and procedures.
Identifying and billing secondary or tertiary insurances.
Answering all patient or insurance telephone inquiries pertaining to assigned accounts.
Setting up patient payment plans and work collection accounts.
Candidate should possess the following:
Ability to work well in a team environment. Be able to triage priorities, take direction well, work
independently and handle conflict in a reasonable fashion.
Problem-solving skills to research and resolve discrepancies, denials, appeals, collections and a
calm manner and patience working with either patients or insurers during this process.
Knowledge of medical terminology likely to be encountered in medical claims.
Have excellent verbal and written communication skills and an attention to detail.
Physical requirements will include:
Sitting for long periods of time
Using a phone, holding phone handset
Dexterity using computer keyboard, filing papers and charts
Bending, stretching, pushing, pulling, lifting up to 50 pounds

Certified Medical Assistant/Medical Assistant student
Responsibilities are not limited to patient intake, surgical procedures, biopsies,
prepare laboratory specimens, patient education, sterilize medical instruments,
authorize prescription refills, suture removal and wound care. Must have a flexible
schedule. 
Candidate will also be responsible for patient messages, managing prescription
refills and prior authorizations, and assisting the doctor with minor procedures.
Candidate must also be reliable, detail-oriented, able to multi-task in a fast-paced
environment. 
Qualifications include but are not limited to: Able to speak/write English clearly,
good verbal and written communication skills, able to read, understand, and follow
oral and written instructions, confident positive manner and appearance.
Skills should include problem solving, adaptability, teamwork, and
professionalism.
